The Serious Part
Born and raised in Macau, I have always been fascinated with tech since I can remember, especially Linux and open-source projects. Amid the recent trend of service and subscription-based models on anything, open source projects really are a breath of fresh air.
My work experiences range from trying different CPU and RAM to find cost effective specifications that meets requirements, to developing Ethereum smart contracts for a brand new mobile payment model. I can tackle issues and projects with creativity and unique perspectives. Together with setting clear requirements and designing small experiments to test different solutions, I am able to find the most effective solution.
In my free time, I designed, built, and am still maintaining a home server providing home networking routing, authoritative DNS, web hosting, RADIUS server, and VPN (and more) on VMWare ESXi, where I gained hands-on experience with various enterprise software. You guessed it! This website is hosted on my home server in Macau. No GitHub pages!
I also work on Android apps development. Snapchat Streaks Reminder and Chinese Converter are my main projects, with more coming up. Currently with 20,000+ combined downloads!
Read more about my hobbies on Projects page.
The Fun Part (no, grinding Leetcode is not a hobby…)
Weirdly interested in television broadcasts and rail transit systems lately… and editing Wikipedia. What happens when you combine transit and Wikipedia? I went to every station of Macau LRT to take pictures for Wikipedia. Also, read my blog series on television broadcasts in Macau, and a hidden platform in a train station in Macau! (Both written in Chinese)
Also got into photography in recent years. Started with landscape, street, and architecture, exploring cosplay and portrait photography recently. Gear: Canon R7 with 18-150mm kit lens. I WILL get that 50mm f/1.8 soon(TM).
However, my biggest interest of all is to research and learn completely random stuff about our world. I could be looking at Street View of Mumbai right now, and I might be off to reading about why time in Urumqi might be two hours apart depending on who do you ask. As much as this sounds like an excuse for wasting time, I believe that if everyone can spend some time away from mainstream media with everything lase-focused on your country, and look at how people in other parts of the world live their lives, we might just be a little closer to world peace.
When people ask me a fun fact about me, I tell them I edit Wikipedia for fun. If that’s not enough to scare them away, I show them My Grand List of Hobbies and Interests.
Interested in my projects? Something to tell me? Feel free to drop me an email and talk about anything!
